Job Title: Night Care Assistant (Shift lead)

Salary Range: £23,000 to £24,000 p.a.

Purpose of Position:
As Senior Care Assistant the role is to support the person in charge in all aspects of the home’s management, including taking temporary complete charge during the absence of the person in charge.
To help train junior members of staff in all aspects of their work in the home.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Help to ensure that all junior and domestic staff contribute to the best of their ability, to the efficient running of the home and the creation of the right atmosphere.
- To supervise a shift and carry out all tasks, with the assistance given, which are necessary to run a friendly, efficient residential care home. This will include providing both satisfactory care and that which would normally be given by caring relatives, always ensuring that the residents’ wellbeing and dignity are maintained.
- To encourage development of the residents’ full potential physically, psychologically and socially.
Main Objectives:
- To promote the health, welfare and wellbeing of the residents.
- To assist with health care arrangements for residents and exercise control and administration of drugs and medicines as prescribed and laid down by current instructions.
- To encourage communication and interaction among Residents and to maximise their independence through self-help and mutual support.
- To liaise with Doctors, Care Managers and other professional colleagues as required.
- To be fully conversant with and ensure compliance of the home’s procedures and P-practices and to support the management in adhering to the care standards.
- To supervise and monitor the Care Assistants in the performance of their duties.
- To give and maintain support to the other Senior Care Assistants, Care Assistants and other members of staff as may be required assisting with individual development.
- To oversee individual supervision to the staff and to give support on a regular basis.
- To help and encourage staff to integrate into the home’s care team and to motivate them to maximise job satisfaction.
- To oversee and maintain cleanliness throughout the home and the laundering of residents’ personal clothing.
- To liaise with the kitchen staff to oversee that residents’ dietary requirements are met.
- Daily updates of residents’ care plans, case notes and report book and maintenance of other records as instructed.
- To contribute to Senior Staff meetings and to encourage motivation and a positive working atmosphere.
- To undertake staff training sessions as required.
- To perform other such reasonable duties as may be required.
